Wesley, who works as a coffee sommelier at Bird Dog, owned by the Napiers, met Alex, a Laurel native, in her hometown, the couple explained on the show. The couple had the opportunity to buy Alex’s grandmother’s home, but they called it “massive” and said it “needs a lot of work.” That’s where the Napiers came in. Community members and leaders have also expressed frustration over the lack of communication from the mayor and the network about what’s going on with various projects. City Councilman Doug Schossow said he signed a non-disclosure agreement with HGTV early in the process but has never received any information.

The publisher of the local paper, Brian Porter, also wrote that he has received no communication from HGTV representatives despite repeated requests for details on local projects. So, in answer to the question about whether it’s fake or not, absolutely not. They’re a couple that’s as real as real can be, right down to their adorable baby.
Ben & Erin Napier’s ‘Home Town’ Show Returned to HGTV With New Episodes on December 4
Erin was pregnant on a lot of shows and audiences everywhere were thrilled when they introduced their new baby to them. Now, instead of just being the cutest couple on HGTV, they’re the cutest family on HGTV. See for yourself by tuning in to HGTV and following some of their amazing renos.

Those of us who spoke up addressed two elephants in the room -- the LLC and the Jackson-based Clarion-Ledger. We pointed out the two newspapers were covering this case -- one of them extensively. Because a so-called manager instructed a so-called rookie journalist to only focus on Forrest County. In most cases, the replacements are people who aren't necessarily loyal to the WDAM legacy.
Robert De Niro’s NYC home burglarized by intruder looking for Christmas gifts
The town was reportedly chosen for the HGTV spinoff show after the series received 5,000 submissions representing 2,600 towns from across the country. According to officers, Aviles has 26 prior arrests and is described as one of the New York Police Department's "most prolific recidivist burglars." Aviles also had two active bench warrants, at the time of her arrest, for failure to appear in court. We'd love to hear eyewitness accounts, the history behind an article.
It’s why Greg Burroughs got to spend a year hanging out at the Laurel Country Club instead of being locked up behind bars after being charged with taking the life of a 23-year-old young woman, whom I’m sure he viewed as nothing more than his property to dispose of at his whim. And all of it leads to a privileged class who believe they are above the law because, quite frankly, they are … they own them. On November 13, 2019, it was announced that a spin-off titled Home Town Takeover will premiere in 2021.
City Council Members Question Cost of HGTV Projects
Ben told us football games at Laurel High's Watkins Stadium, or "Between the Bricks," are his third favorite thing about living in Laurel. Beech & Lansdale Barber Shop (the oldest barber shop in town!), Estelle's Southern Cuisine, and The Knight Butcher. Here's your first stop if you ever visit the Home Town filming location. The couple restored and reopened the Laurel Mercantile with four close friends (including Erin's cousin, Jim Rasberry, and his wife, Mallorie, who happens to be Erin's best friend and makes appearances on the show). Other Laurelites include opera singer Leontyne Price, actor-evangelist Tom Lester, NSYNC's Lance Bass, and football players Clinton Portis and Jason Campbell. Nobody knows and loves Laurel, Mississippi, quite like Erin and Ben Napier.
The six-episode spinoff will feature the Napiers working with another community to renovate multiple homes and public spaces within a single town. It was announced on July 2, 2020, that Wetumpka, Alabama, will be the town featured in this new show. Erin and Ben Napier renovate houses in the historic district of Laurel, Mississippi. After being featured in Southern Weddings magazine and on the magazine's Instagram, they were contacted by HGTV. The show premiered in January 2016 and has been highly rated in the first three of the show's aired seasons.

Ms. Robinson is currently working on a number of web pages and reviews for a well-known company in Georgia covering television, movie, and product reviews. By saying that some people think it’s cluttered or maximalist but she just calls it “real life,” Everybody has stuff and they’re simply pieces that are comforting to us on stormy nights, welcoming us home when we come walking in the door. It’s always the perfect blend of cutesy farmhouse style and clean contemporary blended together to make the homes on “Home Town” as homey and welcoming as they can be.
Through the series, Erin and Ben have indeed put Laurel on the map. And since it's only a matter of time before people start planning to visit the small town (just look at all the folks trekking to Magnolia Market and Pioneer Woman Mercantile!), here's our guide to the Home Town filming location, complete with Erin and Ben's favorite local spots. Did I and others speak up about WDAM's lack of coverage of the saga? Some of us, in separate meetings where story ideas were shared, asked if there was anything new to the case.
She’s known exactly which Laurel house she has wanted for her own from way back when she was just a little girl. Since then, she has been keeping an eye on it and dreaming of buying it when she grew up. For years, she dreamed about living in the “little yellow cottage” that’s located in the middle of Laurel. Now, the dream has come true and they moved into their dream home in 2008 after they got married. Since then, they have restored that 1925 house and created both a new story and a new home for themselves. Of course, a trip to Laurel wouldn't be complete without a stroll to see some historic homes.
Sanderson Farms retaliated against our coverage of the Burroughs case by pulling its sponsorship of Bobcat Jr., a publication that is aimed at promoting reading in our grade schools. Greg’s sister-in-law Hillary Burroughs is Sanderson Farms’ marketing director official and the company’s fleet of trucks is furnished by the Burroughs Company, owned by Greg’s uncle. It’s time that we admit to ourselves that the blacklight that has been cast upon us shows that all of us have specks of Katherine Sinclair’s blood on our hands. A couple that's moving back to Mississippi is looking for a spacious home for under $260,000 where they can host friends and throw parties. They have their heart set on one of the options, but it's out of their range, leaving them to either negotiate or settle on the home they can afford.
The homeowners also get to keep those beautiful custom pieces that Ben builds for them. The homeowner then gets a binder full of info on the items from local shops and how to make those items their own. Erin says that they like to utilize as much of the homeowners’ own furnishings as possible.

Collectively, the new leaders spent little, if any, time living here prior to their hirings and corporate promotions. Instead, much of the current leadership is made up of people who've been loyal to WDAM's current parent company -- Raycom Media. In turn, they would likely hire people with virtually no ties to our area but their allegiance to Raycom was noticeable. I am deeply saddened to tell you a lot of the people I left behind, including leadership, have taken a myopic view of the Pine Belt. When I was welcomed aboard by the then leadership of WDAM more than a decade ago, I was welcomed by people who knew the overall coverage area.
Upstairs is a bed and breakfast, which the Napiers recommend for Laurel lodging in this Google map, along with Hampton Inn & Suites Laurel, MS and Holiday Inn Express & Suites Laurel. For a more personal experience, Mallorie and Jim listed their cozy "Laurel Cottages" on Airbnb, and fans of the show can even rent singer-songwriter Amber Hayes's "Bohemian Craftsman" from Season 1. Since doing so much work in Laurel, Ben and Erin have gone on to help other small towns. In Home Town Takeover, the Napiers shift their focus to Wetumpka, Alabama.
